This is the M&STL depot and there is a tower which apparently
commanded the crossing with the CNW.
It is located in a park on the shore of the lake about a mile from the
center of town.

Interesting website for St. James. I am familiar with it because my wife is from near there and I was even married there. Been going up there for over 25 years. The depot is not M&StL as I remember but a standard C&NW depot from Bingham Lake or something like that as I remember. The tower is also not originally from St. James and the caboose is a former GTW. A similar depot still exists in Lewisville, about 12 miles east of St. James. I may be wrong, but I doubt any of the old CNW/MSTL buildings are still around other than the CNW depot, turntable and part of the roundhouse.
