C&NW pass 1872 back
Four things make this a favorite of mine:
1. C&NW is a favorite railroad
2. Iowa is my home
3. It's neat to see my favorite railroad helping to spread the good news!
4. My great grandmother Abbie Brink was born in 1872. She lived to be 104. I remember talking with her when I was a young boy about her youth. Talk about perspective. A favorite story was the first time she and her family ever saw or tasted a banana. She credited her good health to walking oudtoors around the house barefoot in the first snow of each winter. She came to Iowa in a covered wagon and saw the first cars, planes and men on the moon. Abe Lincoln alive in 1865, just 7 years before she was born. Her father marched in Sherman's March to the sea diring the Civil War. My mom has his diary which is a story in itself.
