Today I moved the site to www.cashgroth.com from
www.eldora.net/lyndon/ .
Because of this change a few of the features of this site may
not be working properly for a while.
Most of the email links on the site are outdated so you will need
to send all email to the new address
eldoracoal@yahoo.com
I've moved twice and
started a new business in the past year.
Things are beginning to get back in balance for me now so I hope
to get
back to work on this website. Please sign the guestbook....it
gets me
going when there are interesting new stories there to ad to the
site. Cash |

How
do I find something on this #*%$ Website?
Was the M&StL just some Mom & Pop small midwestern
railroad?
See what you think after you take a look at this photo from the
Minnesota Historical Society which shows the construction of the
Minneapolis-St. Louis Extension bridge over Cottonwood River, south of
New Ulm.
I put this link here to show you an example of the quality of the
photos behind the MHS links throughout this site. This link and others
like it are on the New Ulm page.

They recently changed servers so if you find an
outdated link on this site please let me know.

Engineering Drawings
I recently found 26 original M&StL engineering drawings at a
small antique store. They date from the 1920's to the 50's. Most are
for the GE gas-electric cars. There are also some caboose, freight
car, passenger and M.O.W. items. One lists truck descriptions and
pattern numbers for freight cars by series.

Please take a moment to look at the guestbook. There are many
interesting notes about the Louie from all over the world. This is my
personal favorite page in the whole website. It's neat to see the
connections this railroad has continued to have with us even a
generation since it's merger into the C&NW.

Railfan:
One who chases after trains. Come along as I chase after those
endangered green and yellow varmints. Recent sighting include MP15s,
GP38s and a UP train wreck site near Buckeye, Iowa. I have video tape
and photos that cover hundreds of sightings in central Iowa over the
past ten years that I will add as I get to them.

NOTES :
Thanks to everyone who has
contributed new content to the site.
Hal Reitan son of
M.J. Reitan, the last Chief Dispatcher of the M&StL has loaned
me a box of M.J.'s photos and paper items to scan and add to this
site. I'll post the new pages in the left hand column of this page
as they are added.
There have been a few old wood M&StL
cars that have been located and people have given me pictures to
tease you with. Don't ask me where the cars are located. The
people who own them don't need a bunch of M&StL trespassers on
the property. caboose 1201,
caboose 1306 and
boxcar 19392
I have been receiving more
requests for genealogical information. Please take a look at the
M&StL Employees Page for a list
of tips I've come up with. If anyone else has suggestions let me
know so they can be added to the page as well.
I still have a mountain of
information to add to this site.
New HO scale model photos from Clark
Propst
Photos from Jim Sands,
Don Vaughn,
Dennis Holmes, Fred Knudsen and
Louis Claeson.
Please send stories or notes to
add to the pages for individual towns. As fans we really need to
collect the stories of the people who worked for and lived near
our favorite railroad while they are still with us. I have email
from families who only recently found this information on the
Internet and had relatives pass away before they could get their
stories recorded. Take a tape recorder or video camera along the
next time you visit a railroad friend or relative. Who knows, they
may want to contribute items to the local RR museum or help
finance the AFE project listed below.
What do you think of having a M&StL
reunion?
The interest in the Louie seems to
be growing as evidenced by new scale model
products, a growing
YahooGroups
membership, high prices for M&StL items on eBay and the
growing traffic to this site.
