Can anyone provide more information for the following?

G'morning, I wanted to touch base with you in regards to the original investors of the M&STL....My great-grandfather was at State Center in the mid 1860's....his first two children were born there as well....Patterson Grove....(by the way, where is Patterson Grove?)....anyway, his name was Charles William Pickering.....HIS father was CWH Pickering.....and invested in many things...cotton mills, shipping, the first Trans-Atlantic cable, and a ship that brought goods into Mobile and Galveston during the Civil War, named "Denbigh". The thought occurred to me that perhaps my family also invested in railroads......? And the siding named Pickering is interesting as well. Any idea how it got it's name? Thanks for any info.....and I've really been enjoying your site and web-ring! Skip Pickering sap@flinthills.com
