Do you have any railroad information about Minerva, Iowa?If you have any photos or other information relating to Minerva,
Iowa please contribute to this page. 5/2/2004 Have found your website very interesting. Good work. Having spent a lot of time at Minerva while working for the fertilizer company that owned the property that was once railroad property, I have a little second-hand information. Local residents have told me of driving hogs and cattle to Minerva to be loaded on the train to send to market. I was told that the stockyards were removed in 1948. They also told me they would ride the train to Marshalltown in the morning and home in the afternoon, so apparently it ran on a pretty regular schedule. You can probably get information by contacting the following people: Edith has lived for many years on the property next to the property that was the railroad yard and grain elevator. Betty's husband, Frank, who suffered a serious stroke several years ago and lives in a nursing home, is the third generation owner of the farm that surrounds the railroad property on the east side of the road where the stockyard was located. I'm sure that either of these ladies would be happy to give you what information they have. Dale Aukes daleaukes @ netins.net
