This is a early 1950's photo of the M&STL depot at Boyd MN.
My dad took this shot with a 35mm camera. His name is Manford J.
Reitan, his railroad "handle" was John Reitan.
He started with the M&STL as a depot helper when he was 15
years old in 1918. He learned telegraphy and went on to become a
telegrapher and depot agent in several locations. He eventually
became Chief Dispatcher before he retired in 1958.
He is still very interested in any M&STL trivia. I have been
downloading stories and pictures from your website for him and he
very much enjoys hearing the history tidbits and the pictures of the
M&STL steam locomotives.
He is now 98 years young and resides at North Ridge Masonic Home in
New Hope, MN. Thank you for the wonderful website detailing so much
